Baculum* sp.
PSG No. 211
Origin of culture stock: Bangladesh
*Now known as Cuniculina sp. 211|
Sub Family: Phasmatinae Foodplant in captivity: Bramble. Humidity requirements: I keep in a partially ventilated vivarium (i.e. a tall glass tank with a plastic mesh lid), and lightly spray the leaves on a nightly basis. Comment: A long, thin and rather spindly phasmid. I received a lone sub-adult female at one of the PSG meetings, and was subsequently given two adult males by the PSG coordinator. As such, I know only what the adults look like: females have a beautiful apple-green body with diagonally-stripy brown legs. Males are thinner than females, and are overall a yellow-brown colour, though with thin longitudinal darker brown stripes on the body. Both species are apterous. Defence tactics: Mainly camouflage. |
