Gratidia conformans Brunner, 1907
PSG. 225
Origin of cu;ture stock: Thailand
|
Sub Family: Pachymorphinae Foodplant in captivity: Bramble. Humidity requirements: They seem to be perfectly fine living in an all-net cage and being lightly misted every couple of days. Comment: Both males and females are very thin, as is typical of the Gratidia genus. The females glue their ova to the sides of the cage, to the leaves and even to other phasmids. Thus when cleaning out this species, be careful that you don't accidentally dispose of fertile ova into the wild. The ova have a very high hatch rate, and after approximately 4 months, most ova will have hatched out into a spindly nymph. I am keeping my nymphs in a glass tank with plastic food wrap over the top (in order to maintain a fairly high level of humidity), and they seem to be thriving.
