Sceptrophasma hispidula (Wood-Mason, 1873)
PSG. 183
Origin of culture stock: Andaman Islands, India
* formerly known as Gratidia hispidula
|
Sub Family: Pachymorphinae Foodplant in captivity: Bramble, oak. Comment:
Sceptrophasma hispidula was originally described as a Gratidia
sp, and as such, both male and female are rather thin. They
reproduce sexually, and stick their grass seed-like ova over the sides of the
cage, the leaves and onto other phasmids. Remember that it is necessary
to take extra care not to accidentally dispose of the ova when throwing out
old food plants etc.
